FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
- I've written a children's book story that I think you would be a wonderful illustrator for.
Would you illustrate my children's book story?
Sorry, but I only work with publishers. The best way to get your work published and recognized by a publisher is to submit your work alone. Publishers choose the illustrator that they feel works well with the story. If you are a proficient illustrator then submitting illustrations along with your manuscript would be appropriate.
Where can I learn more about creating work for the children's book market?
For those new to the children's book market, here are some great places to look for information:
Yellapalooza
Children's Book Council
Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators
Purple Crayon
Cynthia L. Smith, Children's & YA book author
Learn as much as you can about the children's book market. Your local bookseller is a great place to start researching. Attend conferences, network, and submit your best work.
